Nithya Menen’s next will be India’s first to have sync surround sound
Nithya Menen's upcoming movie Praana could be the first sync surround sound in Indian cinema. The movie directed by VK Prakash has a stellar crew including Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookutty and acclaimed cinematographer PC Sreeram. On the use of sync surround sound for the movie, Resul says, "Sync always helps the natural performance for a film like this. We are not doing the usual jingbang that you see in a film of this genre, but are dealing with pure story telling."
He says that working in the film has been an exciting experience. "Very rarely does a director tells you, 'You are a baby and the film your toy; so treat it like you are playing with it'. So both of us are doing things that we have not done before," says Resul, adding that the duo has been trying to collaborate since VK Prakash's Bollywood debut Freaky Chakra.
